Does my building need backflow testing?
Most commercial, industrial and institutional properties in Ontario require premise isolation and annual testing under municipal cross-connection control programs. Requirements vary by municipality, and we confirm what applies to your building.
How often must backflow preventers be tested?
Most Ontario municipalities require testing at least once a year, and after a device is installed or repaired. Your municipality may set specific deadlines.
Who can install, repair or test a backflow preventer?
Installation and repair must be completed by a licensed journeyman plumber, or a registered apprentice under direct supervision. Testing must be completed by a trained, municipality-approved tester, usually OWWA-certified.
Do you submit test results to the municipality?
Yes. We submit digital test reports on your behalf the same day the test is completed.
What happens if a device fails its test?
We repair or replace the device, retest it and submit the updated results. Emergency service is available 24/7 for failed tests and red tag notices through our commercial plumbing team.
